Clinical Documentation Improvement Educator Job Description

UASI is passionate about providing CDI Consulting services that improve quality and accuracy. We are continuing to expand our CDI service offerings and we are seeking an experience professional to join our team!

 

The CDI Education Consultant will provide education and training to UASI staff through the creation and delivery of educational topics. This role will also provide client-facing support including creation of CDI content and contributing to other educational offerings. 

 

Objective/Outcome:  Contribute to the development of the CDI Staffing and Consulting Teams through creation of educational content and monitoring of quality of the team.

  • Analyze data and collaborate with CDI and Consulting Managers about the training needs and priorities for the staff.
  • Create educational content for staff on topics for continuing education needs.
  • Provide initial and on-going training of staff assigned to clients as necessary.
  • Oversee the quality review process of staff. 

 

Objective/Outcome:  Support UASI’s client deliverables and contribute to the creation of new offerings related to CDI Education and Training.

  • Create education content for clients based on audit findings.
  • Support new offerings related to CDI Education including CDS Onboarding/Preceptor, CDI Compliance, physician education, etc.
  • Provide hands on CDI Audit work or assist with other projects as needed.
  • Create the monthly CDI scenarios and work with marketing to contribute content for UASI website, blogs, whitepaper, and/or social media.
  • Leverages expertise within the industry through speaking, writing, and elevating UASI presence. 
  • Comply with UASI’s policies regarding the use and disclosure of protected health information which includes accessing and using protected health information only to the extent necessary to fulfill the above-mentioned responsibilities. 

 

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Credential of CCDS and/or CDIP preferred.
  • Coding credential of RHIA, RHIT or CCS helpful but not required.
  • Knowledge and experienced in all aspects of CDI services.
  • Strong clinical expertise and extensive knowledge of complex disease processes, normal/abnormal findings, quality measures, etc.
  • Knowledge of official coding guidelines, CMS, and private payer regulations related to IPPS.
  • Previous experience performing CDI audits and creating project reports and recommendations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
  • Requires little direction regarding completion of routine tasks
