Senior CDI Consultant Job Description

UASI is passionate about providing CDI Consulting services that deliver impactful results. We are continuing to expand our CDI team and we are seeking an experienced Senior CDI Consultant to provide expertise and experience in providing value to clients through our consulting work. The ideal candidate will work hands on performing assessment, audit, education, and consulting work and will also provide expertise related to new client engagements and delivery of results with high value.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize expertise to serve as a utility consultant with the ability to lead a project, provide internal mentoring/training, and assist with consulting team wherever needed.
  • Provide input and expertise on client engagements through input on client deliverables, analysis of data and trends, client communication, and collaborating within the UASI consulting team.
  • Perform hands on work including audit, assessment, and education.
  • Review cases from a defined patient population to identify missed opportunities to improve accuracy of documentation.
  • Collaborate with client staff including the coding department to assure documentation is clinically appropriate, accurately reflects the severity of illness and risk of mortality of the patient and is reflective of current CMS standards.
  • Contribute to the preparation of client reports that contain findings, observations, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Communicate with clients and provide client support as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with RN or LPN strongly preferred
  • Active credential from AHIMA, AAPC, or ACDIS
  • Strong clinical background with a thorough knowledge of official medical coding guidelines, CMS, and private payer regulations related to the Inpatient Prospective Payment System.
  • Experience performing CDI audit/reviews and education.
  • Previous experience providing CDI consulting services and delivering impactful results to clients.
