Mary Stanfill, Vice President of Consulting Services, Appointed as IFHIMA Rep to WHO-FIC

Mary Stanfill, Vice President of Consulting Services at UASI, was recently appointed as IFHIMA representative to the WHO Family of International Classifications (FIC) Education and Implementation (EIC) and Morbidity Reference Group (MbRG) workgroups.

The position entails serving in an official capacity with voice and vote at WHO-FIC committees and upholding IFHIMA’s mission, vision and values, as well as commitment to the HIM profession, in all discussions, activities, and actions. Stanfill possesses in-depth, expert level knowledge of WHO international classifications, specifically ICD-10 and a working knowledge of ICD-11. She will serve as a liaison between WHO and IFHIMA. Mary has over 30 years of experience in HIM, including 20 years as a leader in the profession. Mary was part of the national HIM practice leadership team at AHIMA for 11 years. She left AHIMA to join UASI where she began assisting clients with the implementation of ICD-10. She has led UASI’s consulting services for the last 10 years while continuing to volunteer as a thought leader at the national level. Mary has published over 35 articles in industry journals and presented over 45 presentations nationally and internationally on multiple HIM topics. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management, a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Informatics, and is pursuing an applied Doctorate in health informatics.
